Bike rider girl

She just decided, I can do it myself and took off. I had built confidence in her and she was brave enough to try it. So proud of you Faithy!

Mamaw's Funeral

Mamaw you were the most wonderful grandmother in the world. I am so thankful that I was your grand-daughter. Thank you for showing me how to be a best friend, to always love no matter what and for showing me Jesus in everything you do. You will be more than missed. But we are so thankful and have such a peaceful joy that you are with my Lord. We love you Mamaw.

This is what I spoke at Mamaw's funeral.

I’m making Corrie stand up here with me. J

My Mamaw!!!!! She was always there for her grandchildren, no matter what we were going through. Growing up next door to Mamaw had its advantages. There were countless times when I would run away to Mamaw’s house. I would always bring the important things, my cd player and maybe some pjs. She would always accept me, love me, and tell me to go back home.
I used to ask Mamaw as a child, Mamaw have you ever sinned? I never really saw her doing something wrong. She was always kind and loving and good. She would always respond, “Of course I do sweet heart.” She was such a godly example of a wife to her husband, papaw. I would sometimes ask them to kiss. They were so cute. I remember getting spanked maybe 3 times by Mamaw, one time she chased me down a hill with a fly swatter because I decided to go hang out with the cows. I deserved every bit of that spanking. She made the BEST grilled cheeses with a lot of butter. Mamaw was a good friend, she taught me how to love my friends well and serve others. Mamaw liked to help me make my dreams come true. She helped Jesse and I get our babies through in vitro and adoption.
The good memories that we have could go on and on and on. But one of my favorite memories was watching her life over the years and the commitment she had to God. She was never shaken in her faith. With all of the death she had seen and the sickness her body took, she loved Jesus and was completely devoted to serving him. The book of Romans tells us “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”; that was the type of love that Mamaw showed- she served her family and friends as Christ serves us, with grace and love, even when we did not deserve it. This was her Bible that I hold.  She prayed constantly for others. I aspire to be more like Christ every day and this woman lead a legacy that I want to lead as well.
